1. Adjust neck strap
Loosen the screw next to the snap buckle on the side with the trident. Adjust the straps so that the muzzle sits about 1 cm in front of your dog's eyes. For small dogs, about 0.5 cm.
If the muzzle is too close to the eyes, loosen the circumference. If the muzzle is too loose and slides too far forward, tighten the strap. Test the adjustment and firmly tighten the screw. This step is not necessary for models with a metal buckle.
You can cut off the excess strap with scissors.
2. Adjust side straps
If the side straps of the muzzle are sticking out significantly or are wavy after adjusting the neck strap, you can adjust the side straps. The goal is for the straps to run straight along the sides.
With the side screws, you can also adjust the tilt of the muzzle and the position of the buckle.
In any case, you should tighten the screws firmly.
3. Adjusting the browband
If present, you must adjust the head strap of your BUMAS muzzle. To do this, loosen the screw on the head strap and place the muzzle on your dog. The head strap is adjusted so that it does not hang loosely but also does not pull on the muzzle. Close the screw with the loop as close as possible to the neck strap to prevent the head strap from slipping. You can cut off any excess strap with scissors.
4. Adjust the throat latch
If you have chosen a throat latch, slide it as far back on your dog's neck as possible. Then, loosen the screw and adjust the strap so that approximately 1 finger can fit between your dog's neck and the throat latch. Tighten the screw as close to the strap as possible so that the throat latch cannot easily slip.
