A BUMAS muzzle is made from the soft material BioThane®. This material is a type of synthetic leather and can be molded to shape. For dogs with a propensity for damage, we therefore strongly recommend the two protective options "Protection Strap" and "Extra Safety," as well as the additional throat strap and brow strap. In cases of severe destructive intent, we advise against using a muzzle made of BioThane®.

A BUMAS muzzle can be adjusted in many places to fit the size of the dog's head perfectly. A dog might want to get rid of its muzzle because it's not used to wearing one or because it's still uncomfortable. In this case, we recommend positive reinforcement muzzle training at the dog's pace, so the dog can learn to accept wearing a muzzle. A throat strap can also be very helpful in preventing the dog from removing the muzzle.

For a muzzle to be effective against chewing, the protective strap option is absolutely necessary. The protective straps reduce the gaps between the straps at the front of the muzzle, preventing your dog from picking anything up from the ground. This way, your dog can no longer pull anything through the muzzle from the outside. Drinking is still possible, of course.

The dog can drink while wearing a BUMAS muzzle. To do so, it must immerse its snout in the water bowl; the water then flows through the gaps in the straps, and the dog drinks inside the muzzle. This is also possible with the optional protective strap.

You can feed treats through the BUMAS from the front, the side, and even from above. With the optional protective strap, you can feed treats from the side. The Extra Safety option allows you to feed small treats from above.

With BUMAS custom-made clothing, you can choose the size yourself and select from all options and colors.

With BUMAS breed muzzles, you can choose from 31 different breed-specific BUMAS muzzles and 8 different color combinations.

To order a custom-made BUMAS muzzle, measure your dog's snout length and the closed muzzle circumference. For the panting measurement, add 30-40% to the closed muzzle measurement. You can find our detailed measuring instructions here.

Unfortunately, this isn't possible because the properties of the various materials differ too greatly, and they behave very differently during processing. The best and safest approach is really to measure the dog's snout and order according to those measurements.

We tested and compared them extensively. In most cases, BUMAS muzzles were lighter than metal muzzles.

All BUMAS muzzles and other products are handcrafted in our own Austrian factory. At BUMAS, we use only the highest quality materials. Our muzzles last an average of more than 10 years.

We recommend a BUMAS muzzle for fully grown dogs. A BUMAS muzzle cannot be resized and therefore cannot grow with a puppy or young dog. Of course, if it is absolutely necessary to buy a BUMAS muzzle for a very young dog, this is possible. However, you should expect that it will be too small for the adult dog, and a larger one will then be needed.

In fact, for a custom-made BUMAS, the muzzle length and closed muzzle circumference measurements are essential. Without these measurements, we cannot create a custom-made suit for your dog. You can find tips on measuring tape training on our website. If your dog finds the measuring tape very scary, you should invest some time in this. You can also try "measuring" your furry friend's length with a thin yarn or similar thread and then measuring this distance with the tape measure. This way, you don't have to get close to your dog with the wide tape measure. If you take this slight detour, please make sure that you get the correct centimeter measurement.

Selbstverständlich kannst du Leine, Halsband und Brustgeschirr farblich aufeinander abstimmen. Bei den BUMAS
Halsbändern stehen vier verschiedenen Varianten in über 30ig Farben zur Wahl. Die BUMAS Leinen gibt es in fünf unterschiedlichen Ausführungen ebenfalls in allen Farben. Auch für unser BUMAS Brustgeschirr kannst du aus dem vollen Farbtopf schöpfen und das in zwei unterschiedlichen Riemenbreiten.

When ordering a custom-made item, it's always best if you send us photos. If we receive photos of your dog's measurements, we can process your order much more accurately. Should we notice anything amiss, we'll contact you, of course, before production begins. If you're unable to take photos of your dog's measurements, photos of your dog in profile without a measuring tape are also very helpful. So, yes, please send us photos of your dog!
