All BUMAS muzzles are produced in Austria with the utmost care and from high-quality materials.
For production, we use only high-quality materials such as genuine BioThane® from the USA. Our rivets and buckles are rustproof. Our Biothane muzzles are available in standard sizes for various breeds and also as custom-made muzzles

Measuring instructions for your muzzle
To ensure the muzzle fits well and doesn't pinch anywhere, the correct measurements of your dog are essential. We only need three measurements and photos of your dog to produce the perfect muzzle.

BioThane Dog Muzzle: The Right Muzzle for Your Dog
A muzzle should protect, not restrict. Your dog must be able to pant, drink and take treats while wearing it, and it must not press or rub anywhere. That is exactly why we handcraft every BUMAS muzzle in our workshop in Austria, from soft, lightweight BioThane® with rustproof rivets.
Custom-made or breed size?
We make the BUMAS custom-made muzzle exactly to three measurements of your dog: snout circumference, snout length and panting circumference. In the 3D configurator you choose colors and extra options yourself, such as forehead strap, throat strap, metal buckle, neoprene padding or protective options. It is the best choice for unusual head shapes, flat or very small snouts, behavioral issues and daily use.
For more than 30 popular breeds we offer muzzles in ready-made sizes. No measuring needed, they cost less and arrive faster. If the breed muzzle doesn't fit after all, you can return it undamaged and unworn within 2 weeks.
How to find the right size
For a custom-made muzzle, all you need is a tailor's tape measure, a paper clip and a few treats. Our measuring instructions show you step by step how to measure correctly, with a video and sample photos. The panting circumference is key: it determines the inside of your muzzle and makes sure your dog can breathe freely, even when it's warm.
Why BioThane?
BioThane is a coated webbing that doesn't absorb water, doesn't go moldy and can be cleaned with a damp cloth. A BioThane muzzle keeps its shape in rain, snow and water and is much lighter than leather or metal. Many dogs almost forget they are wearing it once they are used to it. What do you need a muzzle for?
The most common reasons are muzzle requirements on public transport, trains and cable cars, visits to the vet, and protection against poison baits and scavenging. Can my dog drink with the muzzle on?
Yes. Water flows through the gaps between the straps, and your dog drinks inside the muzzle.
Can my dog pant with the muzzle on?
Yes. We make every custom muzzle with enough room for panting. This is especially important to us.
Is a BioThane muzzle bite-proof?
For most everyday situations, yes. For large dogs with a strong intent to cause damage, we recommend a custom-made muzzle with protective options. All details are in Are BioThane muzzles bite-proof?.
Which muzzle is right for my dog?

How do I get my dog used to the muzzle?
With positive training in small steps over two to three weeks. Our guide: Muzzle training.
How do I clean my BioThane muzzle?
Simply rinse it with water or wipe it with a damp cloth. For heavy dirt, use mild soap.
